Our ensaimada is a product of three generations of experimenting and trying different ingredients and at the same time, keeping the tradition. Our recipe uses European style butter and eggs. After 15 hours, the result is a very soft, light and golden bread. So soft and light, it will dance with your taste buds.
We offer our ensaimadas in two sizes (regular and small) and come either Classic or filled. The regular size is perfect for breakfast or a snack. The small ones are the rave of your tea party, bridal shower or breakfast meeting. Either size makes a wonderful, unique gift. Fillings are Manchego cheese, dark chocolate and cinnamon.
Our ensaimadas are individually wrapped to maintain freshness and for convenience. Each box contains 4 regulars or 8 smalls. As soon as you receive your ensaimadas, consume them right away or store them in the freezer for up to one month. There is no need to thaw your ensaimadas. Warm them straight from the freezer.
Oven (recommended): Unwrap your ensaimadas, place on a cookie sheet, turn oven on to 250° (no need to pre-heat) and place ensaimadas in center rack for 5 – 6 minutes (2 – 4 minutes in a convection oven).
Microwave: Unwrap your ensaimadas, place on microwave-safe plate and set 15 – 20 seconds for each ensaimada.
If ensaimadas are warm to the touch, let them cool for a minute or 2 before drizzling and/or sprinkling with the topping.
